Value Chain

The value chain is an element of the transition period towards stakeholder capitalism and holistic governance. Because we are all on the same planet together. Value is the sum of all contributions made by a product or service from its birth to the end of its life. The value chain is a map of everything touched while all these contributions are being performed. In short, the value chain encompasses all the people, organisations, and natural environments that a product or service comes into direct or indirect contact with throughout its entire life cycle.

The presence of a product or service in the market and the healthy functioning of an organisation are directly or indirectly dependent on many resources. Raw materials, goods/equipment, labour, intellectual capital, financial resources, reputation... All of these are not standing alone; your stakeholders —employees, customers, suppliers, financial institutions, logistics service providers, NGOs, industry organisations, international and national rating agencies, media, and many more— are also involved.

This is a map that encompasses the entire process of your activities from zero to zero, i.e. from new creation to waste or end of life as a result of consumption.

Understanding what is important for organisation, correctly defining the boundaries of the map and all its elements, and working together with your stakeholders to achieve better results.

This map enables you to manage your positive and negative impacts and your risks and opportunities, to act more quickly by providing insights to the decision-making mechanism, to increase your flexibility, and, in fact, to ensure sustainability.
